Description

Job Summary: Perform daily cash control; monthly cash analysis of receipts and disbursements; assist in cash flow projections; assist with the account payable system; perform cost analysis; accounts receivable analysis; patient charge analysis; and other duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain the cash control system – balance the daily cash logs with cash collections and prepare cash deposits. When there are discrepancies follow up with the department mangers responsible for collections.
2. Prepare a monthly cash flow report defining cash receipts by payer and service, as well as cash received from grants and other non patient collections. Define monthly cash disbursements as related to payroll, vendor supplies, capital equipment, rentals, and utilities, insurance and other.
3. Examine direct expenses by service and make allocations of indirect expense. Make cost comparisons to prior periods and make comparison to reimbursement rates. Follow up with managers operations and the cost impact.
4. Work on the accounts payable system coding invoices, post to the system, make payments.
5. Learn the patient billing process, examine the charge structure and balancing reports. 
6. Make recommendations to the CFO from your findings if the system can be made to operate more efficiently.

Requirements

Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:

Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Minimum of 1-2 years accounting experience required.

Special Equipment/Skills:

An understanding of accounting in general: good computer skills and the ability to use excel worksheets; good with math figures and able to communicate with others.
